Throughout the week, learners explore five connected family concepts:
Day 1 – Every Family is Special
Learners identify the people who are special to them, talk about how families show love and care, and recognize that every family is unique.
Day 2 – Some Families Are Big and Some Families Are Small
Learners compare families with different numbers of members, identify which has more or fewer people, and understand that both big and small families are special.
Day 3 – Families May Live in the Same or Different Households
Learners discover that not all family members need to live in the same house. Some may live with grandparents, have a parent working in another place, or have relatives living in different homes while still remaining connected as a family.
Day 4 – Families Can Be Different in Many Ways
Learners explore different family sizes, compositions, and living arrangements while developing respect and appreciation for families that may be different from their own.
Day 5 – My Family is Special
Learners review the week’s lessons and express what makes their own family special.
The package also integrates early literacy and numeracy skills throughout the week. Learners practice blending selected letter sounds to form simple CVC words such as mat, man, fan, sat, bat, cat, sit, fit, bin, and can. They also count and match quantities from 0–6, practice comparing more and fewer, work with simple color and shape patterns, and develop an introductory understanding of putting together or addition and taking away or subtraction using concrete objects.
