Term 1 Week 1 focuses on helping Kindergarten learners adjust to the school environment in a warm, safe, and supportive way. This introductory week is designed to build confidence, develop a sense of belonging, and establish positive classroom habits. Learners are guided to feel comfortable in school by getting to know the teacher, classmates, and the classroom setting through fun, interactive, and child‑friendly activities.
During this week, emphasis is placed on learning simple classroom rules and routines, such as listening when someone is speaking, following simple instructions, lining up properly, taking care of materials, and showing respect to others. Special attention is given to the rule “Makinig” (Listen) to help children understand the importance of listening to the teacher and friends in order to learn and stay safe.
Activities include songs, stories, games, role‑playing, and discussions that promote good behavior, cooperation, and participation. Learners are encouraged to express themselves, practice social interaction, and develop self‑control while engaging in structured and play‑based tasks. Simple routines such as greeting time, clean‑up time, and transition signals are introduced to help learners become familiar with the daily flow of the class.
