π GRADE 2 MATHEMATICS
THREE-TERM BUDGET OF WORK
Learning Competencies-Based Materials
This Grade 2 Mathematics Learning Materials Package is designed to be aligned with the Grade 2 Mathematics Three-Term Budget of Work and its identified Learning Competencies.
The package follows the competencies by week, making it easier for teachers to identify the specific Mathematics skills covered in each learning period and use the materials as supplementary resources for instruction, practice, remediation, enrichment, homework, and assessment preparation.
π WEEK-BY-WEEK LEARNING COMPETENCIES
π WEEK 1 β MEASUREMENT AND GEOMETRY
Learners will:
β’ Measure and compare the lengths of objects using meters (m) or centimeters (cm) and measure distance in meters using appropriate measuring tools.
β’ Identify and use the appropriate unit (m or cm) to measure the length of an object and the distance between two locations.
π WEEK 2 β MEASUREMENT AND GEOMETRY
Learners will:
β’ Estimate the length of objects using meters or centimeters and estimate distance using meters.
β’ Solve problems involving length and distance.
π’ WEEKS 3β7 β NUMBER AND ALGEBRA
β SUBTRACTION
Learners will:
β’ Illustrate subtraction of 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers on the number line and understand subtraction as the inverse of addition.
β’ Subtract numbers where both numbers are less than 100 without regrouping, including:
- 2-digit minus 1-digit numbers
- 2-digit minus 2-digit numbers
β’ Solve problems involving subtraction where both numbers are less than 100, with and without regrouping.
β’ Subtract numbers where both numbers are less than 1,000, with and without regrouping.
β’ Solve 1-step and 2-step problems involving subtraction where both numbers are less than 1,000, including problems involving money, with and without regrouping.
